Overview

  • Bugler is a macOS system butler: a native SwiftUI desktop app for cleanup, monitoring, app management, and local service visibility. It is the Wu Xing (Five Elements) redesign of BugCong and shares the same Mole CLI backend for all destructive operations, so every removal stays previewable, logged, and Trash-aware.

Utilities

  • Microphone (maps to your voice-to-text app, e.g. Wispr Flow — right-click to configure), Camera (opens Photo Booth), Awake (keep-awake timer with presets or fixed one-click duration), Break (screen wipe / keyboard lock / eye-rest timer)

Disk cleanup

  • category preview via mole clean --preview, per-category selection, permanent or Trash removal, confirmation sheet before anything is deleted

Status

  • SMC temperatures and fan control (Auto / Off / Cool / Max via a privileged fan daemon shared with BugCong), full process table with terminate actions

Apps

  • bulk uninstall with leftover scanning, Sparkle/MAS/Homebrew update checks, login-item toggles, Homebrew cask/formula inventory

Services

  • four tabs (AI Agent, Docker, Ports, Schedule job) with search and filters. Read-only by design in v1

Menu bar

  • compact HUD with health score, vitals, battery, bluetooth, processes, and the same four utilities; label switches between stats text and the Bugler mark. Right-click the icon for a native menu: jump to any tab, Microphone/Camera, Awake and Break duration submenus, Settings, About, Help, Quit

Trash Sentinel

  • trash an app in Finder and Bugler pops up a leftover-cleanup panel — exact bundle-ID matches auto-selected, name matches and shared Sparkle caches review-only, everything routed to the Trash. Per-app ignore list and a Settings toggle (on by default)
